( I have tried it and it seems to work to some extent especially with languages, more so with passive vocabulary. But I think the rapid scanning helps you solidify patterns especially in verbs.)
Apparently any difficult skill is enough, as long as you find it very demanding on your brain. Physical exercise is still the one that trumps all unsurprisingly. Damn.
